TweakMASTER

I installed TweakMASTER on Windows XP and now my desktop folders won't open.

TweakMASTER Knowledge Base article KB0008

This was a rare bug in a former release of TweakMASTER which affected certain users. Please be sure you have the latest version installed and upgrade if necessary.

If the problem persists, this might be a bad interaction with some other BHO file loaded. Please try this:

  1. Re-install TweakMASTER.
  2. Reboot if it is required by the setup program.
  3. If the bug still exists, click on "View technical information" when explorer crashes, copy & paste that info into an email to us.
  4. Check "C:\Program Files\TweakMASTER" folder for files with the .LOG extension. If found, please attach these to an email to us as well.
  5. Next, use Start|Run and paste in the following command:
    regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\TweakMASTER\tweakbho.dll"
(make sure you place the double quotes as specified above)

Replace "c:\program files\TweakMASTER" with the correct path of where TweakMASTER was installed, if you installed to a different location. Your folders should now open normally. If not, please let us know.

Note that disabling the BHO file will involve two minor side-effects:

  1. TweakMASTER will no longer retrieve DNS entries automatically from Internet Explorer (irrelevant if DNS Accelerator has been disabled already)
  2. If you have DU Meter installed, its stopwatch won't autostart and stop with web page loading in Internet Explorer
