I'm running IPsec over Ethernet. What settings should I use?TweakMASTER Knowledge Base article KB0033If you are running an Extranet Access Client Adapter for running IPsec over Ethernet, this is definitely a tricky situation. Note, that every option except MTU is common for all adapters, and only MTU is set on per-adapter basis. Setting MTU for this adapter can be tricky, and I cannot give you solid advice, since it greatly depends how and where packets travel on this interface, and how much overhead is added by IPsec headers. You may want to start with 1500, and then try lower values to see if you get performance gains. Or if you rarely use this interface and do most of the surfing without IPSec, you may want to leave this adapter's MTU as "automatic". Just be sure to set TCP Receive Window to a high value, assuming you're using a broadband internet connection. Again, the key word is "experimentation". For some good tips to get you started here, see the "TCP/IP Parameters Tweaking Tips" in the "Getting Started" section of the TweakMASTER Help File, accessible from the Help Menu in the TweakMASTER program.
