How do I install TweakMASTER?

If you are installing an upgrade for a previous installation, it will overwrite the previous installation normally. There is no need to uninstall first. That is NOT recommended. Installing over the top should insure that the new version recognizes your registration serial number from the previous installation.

If you have purchased TweakMASTER, you first need to install it. Normally Internet Explorer will prompt you to run the installation after the download was completed. If you downloaded it and know where you saved it, simply go to that directory and double-click on the downloaded file in order in install it on your computer. If you downloaded the file and cannot find it, check your computer's desktop or choose "Find" from the Windows Start Menu and type this in: TWK*.exe

That will locate the file you downloaded. If it does not, please download again using one of the links on our download page.

And note where you are downloading to when you click "Save" to begin the download. Then as explained above install the program.

IMPORTANT: IF YOU HAVE AN OLDER VERSION OF TWEAKMASTER INSTALLED, DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE PROGRAM TO THE TWEAKMASTER DIRECTORY. IT WILL NOT INSTALL FROM THERE.

You should download to some other directory. perhaps one you create like C:\Downloads and install from there.

You may be prompted at some point to "register" the program. This involves clicking on the "Register" button on the TweakMASTER "About" screen and entering your name and the serial number provided in your email purchase confirmation. Please use copy & paste to enter the serial number to avoid mistaken 0's and O's.

After installation TweakMASTER will open with its Wizard. You may use this as a generalized attempt to optimize your connection. After the wizard has completed its work, you will be prompted to reboot your computer this is necessary for the changes in your system to take effect.

When your computer comes back up TweakMASTER will again open with its help file showing... you should familiarize yourself with the basic options explained on the open help file page. You can then proceed to examine TweakMASTER and try some of its other features including the benefits of DNS Acceleration, something that DOES work for everyone. You should also appreciate the many other useful utilities included with TweakMASTER. TweakMASTER Pro is also available for evaluation. You can download a trial version from our download page.

Now you may wish to log on with your ISP and try your regular Internet activities like email and web surfing. If it seems a good deal faster as many people report, then you may be happy enough with TweakMASTER at that point. Or you may wish to study the helpfile further which contains various suggestions for how to further optimize your connection. Go to "contents" in the TweakMASTER help file and choose "TCP/IP Parameters Tweaking Tips" from the Miscellaneous section of the help file for more on that.

Note that no matter what kind of speed boost you get, that you can still enjoy the benefits of DNS Acceleration, something that DOES work for everyone. You should also appreciate the automatic PC Clock Synchronization feature, as well as ISP Disconnect Prevention, Ping, Traceroute and WhoIs, and the Network Connections Viewer. Restoring your original settings as described above will only affect the MTU optimization settings and not these other features, which many people have reported are well worth the program cost by themselves. And of course with the PRO version, both DU Meter and LinkFox are immensely useful for anyone using the Internet.
