I just checked my Hosts List in the DNS Accelerator and it's empty. Is there a backup?

TweakMASTER Knowledge Base article KB0087

If there are no entries in the DNS Accelerator list, it could be that these entries were deleted if the DNS Accelerator update was executed when you were not connected to the Internet. Please verify that you have the "Prompt before deleting entries ..." option enabled in DNS Accelerator Options. That way you can reject its inclination to delete DNS entries when you are not logged on to the Internet.

Please note: TweakMASTER uses a "smart" algorithm: if more than 90% of the DNS updates fail, and there were a total of more than 10 entries, TM *should* completely disregard the update results (because clearly it's a connectivity problem). However if you have only a few entries, this algorithm cannot be used (for example if you have only 2, then in reality both hosts might disappear off the internet at the same time).

Naturally if the entries in DNS Accelerator list have been previously deleted, obviously updating the list will do nothing until new entries are added once again.

You may also wish to check the option "Prompt before starting automatic updates." Then if you are not connected when the update begins, you will be prompted and will have the option to simply cancel the update. Also note that TweakMASTER maintains a backup file at HOSTS.bak and so if you do not update it again when your list disappears, you can restore your list from that file. Just search for it in the Windows directory, delete your empty hosts file and remove the .bak extension from the backup.
