I am using AOL 7.0 (or later) and am finding that my settings revert to their original status.TweakMASTER Knowledge Base article KB0097If you are using the latest version of TweakMASTER, with a dialup connection and you set your "Dialup Adapter", "AOL Adapter" and "AOL Dialup Adapter" all to 576, the number which seems to work best for AOL, most AOL users find this new setting is retained when they log on to AOL and then go back and look at TweakMASTER's reading of those settings later on the Advanced Optimization screen. However, due to changes in the dialup adapter driver for AOL versions 7.0 and later, for a few users, the MTU may revert to 1400 or something similar again (1400 is the most common setting AOL seems to want to reset to). If this is the case, there is not much you can do about it at this point. You should then change your TCP Receive Window setting manually then by clicking the little down arrow in the "Set to" box to "Default" and just leave it at that. In the alternative you could experiment with setting TCP Receive Window to a multiple of this 1400 MTU... try the MSS*4, MSS*6 or MSS*8 options and let us know if that works better or worse for you than using "default". In any case, due to changes in AOL dialup adapter drivers, TM largely relies on DNS Acceleration and TCP Receive Window optimization for AOL users to optimize their internet connection. And with the other great utilties included with TweakMASTER and TweakMASTER Pro, we are sure you will enjoy running this software on your system. Note that you can still enjoy the benefits of DNS Acceleration, Ping, Traceroute and WhoIs, and the Network Connections Viewer, things that DO work for everyone. You should also appreciate the automatic PC Clock Synchronization feature, as well as ISP Disconnect Prevention. Restoring your original settings as described above will only affect the MTU optimizations settings and not these other features, which many people have reported are well worth the $25 cost by themselves.
