Can I import my AOL favorites into the DNS Accelerator?

TweakMASTER Knowledge Base article KB0099

Importing AOL favorites into TweakMASTER's DNS Accelerator hosts list is a bit tricky but it can be done via the Import Wizard:

  • Log online via AOL.
  • On TweakMASTER's DNS Accelerator screen, on the Options Tab, check to enable DNS Accelerator.
  • On the Hosts List Tab, click on Import.
  • Click "Hosts file", then "Next", and then use the browse button to go to "America Online 6.0\organize\CACHE\" folder.
  • Then you must locate the mutated version of your screen name that contains My Favorites.

For example, if your screen name is partner, several adulterated versions of your screen name may exist within the CACHE folder... partner20, partner04 etc. The file containing "My Favorites" from the screen name "partner" might be "partner04", for example.

Please note that the process needs to be repeated for each of the multiple screen names if you have your favorites saved under each screen name.

You can use "Search for Files or Folders" to locate the stored location of AOL "My Favorites" on your hard drive. Although "My favorites" information may also found in yet a differently altered version of your screen name in the "organize" folder, TweakMASTER will not successfully import the favorites from that folder. You must select and use the correct screen name mutation from within the CACHE folder. That should work instantly.

The message "....host names have been succesfully imported into DNS Accelerator" should finally pop up when the process has been completed.
